Now playing, on all your screens
iPhone, iPod, Xbox 360, and PS3
With Vuze, you’ve come to expect full screen HD entertainment on your Mac and PC. What if you could take these HD videos and easily watch them on the TV in your living room, or the iPhone in your pocket? Ask no more.
With today’s release, we’re unlocking your content and giving it wings to get from your Mac and PC to the other screens in your life: mobile and TV. Welcome to an open world where you own your content, and you can watch it on any screen you want – large or small.
Multiple Devices:
As part of our thinking, we asked you two weeks ago how you wanted to get your HD video from your PC to your mobile and TV.
The results (based on over 25,000 votes tallied in a single weekend) made it clear you care. Among those responding, more than 80% of you took an interest in at least one device option.
As of today, you’ll be able to watch your videos on iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Vuze has always supported open platforms and technologies, and we’ve designed our device support to embrace as many of the devices you asked for, as possible. Expect more to follow soon.
Smart About Formats In An Open World:
One of the key pain-points in digital video today is the lack of a consistent video format standard. We look forward to a day when the format landscape is no longer fragmented across a dizzying array of file formats: H.264, MPEG-4, divx, wmv, avi… In the meantime, Vuze will serve as your translator so you don’t have to know which type of file is required for playback on a specific device.
Your Content, Playable On Any Screen:
Another key pain-point has traditionally been cumbersome transport between devices. Beyond the format maze, its been difficult to get videos easily exported to devices - especially game consoles. The Vuze team spent considerable time thinking through how to simplify this experience. Simply drag-and-drop files to the device of your choice within Vuze, and then click play on your Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or Apple devices.
As a result, you’re not locked into a single platform, and you can enjoy the best content across multiple platforms and screens.
How does it work?
The first thing you’ll notice when you download the latest version of Vuze is a new Sidebar item called Devices. Turn it on, and take it for a spin.
iTunes, PS3, and Xbox 360 will be auto-detected and show up under Devices in your Sidebar (if they’re present on your computer or network).
Drag-and-drop videos from your Vuze Library (or desktop) to the device of your choice. Vuze will detect whether or not the video format will playback on the device you select, convert the file, if necessary, and make it available for playback on the device. All you have to do is sit-back and play your HD content on whatever screen you want.
For iTunes, Vuze will push the video into your iTunes Library for transfer to your Apple devices.
For PS3 and Xbox 360, simply turn on your console and click the video you want to play. Vuze will stream the videos from your PC or Mac directly to your game console.
You’re now free to enjoy full screen HD on all your screens. If you’re anything like us, the first time you transfer a video from Vuze to your iPhone, a smile will cross your face…
Give it a try and let us know what you think. You can learn more here. We’re launching the feature in beta so you can help us quickly evolve and improve it. Awaiting your thoughts…
Gilles

Just wish there was automation to start the transcode as soon as the download was complete. With files automatically downloading over night thanks to RSS, it would be great if they were also already in iTunes in the morning so I could just sync my iPhone and walk out the door.

[...] Vuze fans will be happy to learn the the latest 4.2 release has added a new “Devices” tab that enables users to play their Vuze downloaded content on game consoles like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (Vuze will transcode content on-the-fly if needed). In addition, Vuze can also add downloaded content to your iTunes library so that you can playback the media in Apple TV or create an iPhone / iPod compatible files. If it’s been a while since you’ve used Vuze (formerly Azureus), you definitely need to take it for a spin. The Vuze dashboard and social / community features have definitely taken Azureus to the next level as a content platform. [via] [...]

I just installed Vuze 4.2 and do not have “Devices”. I can find no mention of “Devices”, Xbox 360 or anything similar anywhere in the options. What am I doing wrong?
Except that for my machine, neither the ps3 or the xbox 360 shows up, only Itunes integration poor show vuze.
Why can’t my mac be used to convert? I’ve already got connect 360 which allows me to view the files in the right format, wanted to use vuze to convert the rest, especially your own style mkv files.
How about streaming to DirecTV’s HRXX HD-DVRs? All we need is a mpeg2 transcoder. I use streamclip to transcode to .ts and change it to .mpeg
Is there a way i can speed up my dowloads?
Why Linux havent this features?
I love your product and this new update I had been wishing for i THOUGHT was the ultimate upgrade as opposed to using Null Media Uplink, thus saving me memory (when both programs are running)… but am I correct in understanding in FAQ that you don’t support OSX on a PPC (with 2.gb of ram)to PS3 streaming??? Please tell me it ain’t so and that its in the works?!!!!! Come on Guys Please Please PLEASE tell me it’s a patch coming soon! I have not checked the forums yet but I am about to!!
how about being able to add stored folders to transcode list please, im dying to try some stuff stowed on external drive. how about transcode and replace original w/ error checking so it doesnt stuff my main disk full
no consigo bajar las peliculas .sale la pantalla de nero gracias
ok heres the thing vuze does not work for my ps3 or my itunes and i really need help solving this problem please.
Why is Boston Legal season 3 taking forever to download
When I try to connect using the 360, nothing shows up? All I see is previous MCE connections? Am I missing something?
Sigh… Streaming to the PS3 has always worked :S Only the decoding of certain videos won’t.
I’m assuming this new upgrade solves that problem by putting using the correct filters.

I have the latest version of Vuze (4.2x) installed in two Macs.
My Intel iMac delivers the “Devices” toolbar without problem. My non-Intel iMac does not. Is the latest Vuze only usable on Intel Macs?
Thanks!
Please don’t neglect those of us who still want to burn them onto disks as DVDs VCDs and DivX disks. As it stands now it’s problematic to reconcile disparate formats and resolutions into a single playable disk.
I like Vuze because it’s very easy to use. Ilearned about it from my brother.
It would be cool if a lite version of Vuze could be ported to the iPhone. It wouldn’t need to be able to download all formats, just download what it could play. It would have to monitor available space and ensure that enough remained free for the phone to function properly. There is a Joost player app that runs on iPhone; so, the possibility exists, that it could be done.
A few things Vuze needs to fix or clean up…..once a file is removed from the download directory one get endless error messages about a ‘file not found’. Need to make it much easier to turn those messages off.
1. Add a button to the Options window next to and
2. Add the option “Restore All Settings to Default”
3. Add the option “Track User Setting Changes” [a time stamped change record]
4. Add function “Send User Settings to Clipboard” and “Print User Settings”
There are so many Vuze options that it’s easy to forget what one has done, making it very difficult to isolate which change made a difference. This is particularly true with NAT issues.
my comment got truncated. #1 should read
“Add a CANCEL button to the Options window next to APPLY and CLOSE
Another suggestion: add a preview step to the process of posting comments
Hi,

What can be the problem? Can you help me?

I installed the newest version of Vuze on my Mac and I don’t have a “devices” button and can’t find one anywhere. This seems to be a reoccurring problem. is there something that I can do to fix this?
